We’re getting closer to the Olympics finale as things are heating up in August!
The Chinese team is still leading the medal count with 36 gold medals, 22 silver and 19 bronze medals – a total of 77 medals won.
Team USA is just behind with 34 gold medals, 22 silver and 25 bronze medals won – a total of 81 medals.
The gracious Olympic hosts, Great Britain, solidified their 3rd place position with 22 gold medals, 13 silver and 13 bronze medals – a total of 48 medals. South Korea is far behind in 4th place with 12 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze medals won.
The Russians are still having a disappointing Summer Olympics. The next Winter Olympics will be held in Sochi in February 2014. So far, they’ve won 11 gold medals, 19 silver medals and 22 bronze medals, for a total of 52 medals won. Remember the days when the Soviet Union competed with the USA for the top medal spot? Those days are long gone as China has emerged as a sports superpower.
We have one weekend left in the Summer Olympics. Stay tuned!
