Players Check and Raise Online Casino Legislation

The past couple of months have seen momentous legal developments in the United States with regard to the online casino industry. The business has suffered a blow from two high-profile arrests of top executives of online casino companies, and from legislation passed by the House of Representatives that would make online gambling transactions more difficult. But as expected, online casino players “check and raise” in an effort to promote and protect America’s favorite past-time.

The Poker Players Alliance, which includes online and offline poker players among its members, has initiated a protest of the legislation. The PPA is one of the first organizations to support and defend the rights of online casino poker players. This week, table and online casino poker players were urged by the President of the PPA to call a toll free number and defend the freedom of Americans to use any online casino site.

As voters, the players called their senators and asked to voice their opposition of the legislation to prohibit online casino poker. They asked their representatives to vote against such legislation in the future. Furthermore, the players asked the lawmakers to abandon the banning of online casino sites, and instead consider regulating online poker. Although the PPA fight back is focused on online poker, it carries implications for all online casino games. Players concerned with the future of online casinos were also invited to take action.
