Casino in Tacoma Stays Open on Judge’s Ruling

Published on December 27, 2005 by admin   ·   No Comments

Online casino and land-based casinos always seem to be in the news. With all of the legal disputes and disagreements between government officials, many online casino issues will continue to linger and frustrate many until a solution is found. In the meantime, online casinos fans will continue to play at online gambling sites and gambling lovers on land will continue to visit and play at casinos everywhere.

One of the most specific cases regarding casino law recently published deals with Tacoma casinos and Pierce County Superior Court Judge Gary Steiner. The judge ruled that Tacoma casinos should remain open until voters can decide whether to keep or reject a casino gambling ban approved by City Council six years ago. The judge also issued the City of Tacoma to extend a moratorium on the ban until a special election is held. The election is scheduled to take place in March.

The judge went on to say that he felt his decision was legally correct because he felt that it was the only ‘practical’ and ‘appropriate’ thing to do in order to allow casino employees to retain their jobs. Three months would be a long time for these casino workers to be unemployed while waiting for a vote. More will become clear in the future with the upcoming election.
