Tasmanian Online Casino Sites Approved for Operation

Published on November 27, 2005 by admin   ·   No Comments

Tasmania’s Upper House has approved a licensing regime for online casino sites to operate within Australian borders. Within a matter of weeks, Australian online casinos fans will be able to bet, compete, and play against one another – legally. This revision in online gambling law has come about after a second day of debate in the Legislative Council, where two amendments paved the way for legislation to pass unopposed. Now, online casino operators will be able to offer all of the best in online gambling and favorite casino games to Australian betting fans throughout the continent.

Thanks to Betfair’s triumph earlier this year in becoming the first ever online casino and betting exchange to receive an operating license from the Australian government, the decision for licensing online casino betting was less of a deliberation for the Australian Upper House. The license will be valid for five years, and $10 million will be spent in order to hire 150 staff to establish a second online gambling hub which will handle Asian and Australasian bets.

The online gambling trend is quickly spreading its wings throughout the world. More and more casino lovers are turning to online casino sites because of their convenience and variety regarding casino games and their various types of betting. Now, with the recent legislation in Tasmania, even more gambling fans will be hitting the online casino portals for fun at home, either alone, or with family and friends.
