Next month two charity poker tournaments are taking place, both of which offer seats to the 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event as prizes.On March 1 the fourth annual Spring Training Poker Classic in aid of the Mike Coolbaugh Memorial Fund will take place in West Scottsdale.
A number of celebrity sports personalities are taking part in the tournament hoping to win a seat at this year’s WSOP.
The charity was formed in memory of Mike Coolbaugh who died after being struck in the head by a line drive while coaching the Tulsa Drillers. It is possible to register for a pre-event buy-in of $200; the buy-in on the day will be $250.
On March 6th One Step Program is hosting the 2014 Charity Poker Championship in aid of Children’s Oncology Services at the National Hellenic Museum in Chicago. The tournament has $15,000 of prizes to give away including the seat at the WSOP. Last year the event attracted 270 players and this year a similar number of participants are expected. The Children’s Oncology Services is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and adolescents diagnosed with cancer.
