MotorCity Casino opens Sound Board Entertainment Venue

Thursday, October 23 will see the opening what is proclaimed to be Detroit’s hottest entertainment venue. Sound Board, the new live entertainment venue at MotorCity Casino Hotel is going live with Anita Baker as the opening act.

Ms Baker is a Grammy Award Winner with a string of hits behind her. She said that she is honored to be the opening act for this grand venue in her home town. Baker has performed live in casinos around the world but this performance is one that pleases her most. All proceeds from the concert will be donated to a local charity organisation, Sphinx.

The Sphinx Organisation promotes the participation of African-American and Latino youths in classical music. Bill Borenstein, VP of entertainment and theater operations for MotorCity Casino Hotel, Detroit’s only locally owned and operated casino hotel, said that the casino is thrilled to open Sound Board with one of Detroit’s musical icons and also support such a worthy cause.

Founder and President of the Sphinx Organisation, Aaron Dworkin said that the generosity of two Detroit icons – MotorCity Casino and Anita Baker will help hundreds of youths to make a contribution to Detroit’s rich musical heritage. Sound Board has 1,886 seats and is located inside the MotorCity Casino Hotel Conference Centre.

The theater is a working musician’s dream, it is equipped with state-of-the-art digital video and light distribution systems, top of the range speaker system and Hog Lighting controls. There are also 4 bars and a number of private suites. Tickets to the event range between $65 and $100 and can be booked through Ticketmaster or directly through MotorCity Casino Hotel.
