The group announced the online casino operator had the most visited sports betting site for the first quarter of 2006, shooting the online casino firm to the number one spot ahead of its competitors. Bodog has been named for this honor before but has never before come top in the field.

Bodog’s colourful CEO has referred to the Hitwise award as an honor and says that it comes after several years hard work spent increasing the online casino firm’s internet presence. Branding and marketing for the firm has been intensified in recent months, along with a new focus on its sports betting channel. Among the online casino firm’s highlights of the first quarter was its new horse racing technology, which was released to coincide with the Kentucky Derby. Several high profile domestic sponsorship deals have also helped to bring the online casino firm’s name into the public forum.

Hitwise is an online service that performs daily checks on the way in which 25 million internet users interact with over 500,000 websites across 160 industry categories. The Hitwise Top 10 Awards are presented for each quarter and several well known online casino firms have been recipients of awards in the past. As well as winning the award for the most traffic at its sportsbetting site, the online casino firm Bodog ranked at number nine in searches for general gambling services.
