A recent report released by the Norwegian Gambling Commission has found that the overall revenues from online casino gambling in Norway rose by 6.1% in 2007. Despite that the Norwegian Government maintains a not so positive view on internet casino gambling, the latest statistics have proven that the country thinks otherwise.

The report, published in the ISA Guide, showed that an estimated 244,000 Norwegian citizens are now involved in online casino gambling. Spending about 961 million Euroes in 2007, 82.9% was received by foreign online casino operators. Norsk Rikstoto and Norsk Tipping also made an additional $258 million between them.

The research conducted by the Norwegian Gambling Commission was based a representative population sample consisting of 10,000 Norwegian citizens aged between 16 and 74 years. According to the findings, 12% of adult males living in Norway during 2007 were online casino gambling. This stands in stark contrast to the mere 2% of Norwegian females visiting the online casino in that year.

Some of the more surprising results revealed that 9% of Norwegian adults admitted that they preferred to access their online casino via a mobile platform. In addition, nearly half of all study participants (48%) said that their favorite online casino game was the Norwegian Lotto. This was followed by internet poker, which received 28% of the sample's vote, with sports betting coming in right behind at 27%, and all other online casino games in the remaining 7%.

As for sites, Unibet was the clear favorite online casino, with Expekt, Betsson and NordicBet following.
