Regularly a new study on online gambling is carried out in order to determine this growing phenomenon and its repercussions for the public. UK online casino gamblers are the latest group to have been examined and studied in order to conclude on their coping with the online gambling world. This new study on UK online casino gamblers, commissioned by the UK Gambling Commission, has just now been released. The study, which was carried out by ICM Research, examined a sample of 8000 adults between June 2007 and March 2008.
The key findings of the new study on UK online casino gambling show that 8.8 percent of the 8000 adults surveyed said they had participated in at least one form of remote gambling in the previous month. The majority of these online casino gamblers turned out to be male rather than female, and aged 18-34. However, the survey also shows that if the hugely popular National Lottery is excluded, the percentage of UK online casino gamblers is reduced to a mere 5.1 %.
The UK Gambling Commission has already announced that in 2010 another survey of the UK online casino gambling habits will be conducted. This project will build on their two precious studies of the UK online casino gambling problem form 1999 and 2007. The Commission is interested in engaging academics and other interested parties who have expertise in gambling prevalence studies in the coming study. The hope is to achieve an even better insight into this new and rapidly growing phenomenon, which affects many people every year.
