Many UK online casino and gambling companies still continue to withhold their contribution to British responsible gambling organizations. Especially smaller UK online casino sites dodge their responsibility, despite many warnings of government compulsory levies. Approximately two thirds of all UK online casino and gambling sites have still not contributed to the fund. UK media shows that out of 3 200 companies, only 1 000 have in fact made a donation.

For an UK online casino and gambling business to operate on British ground, they need to show they are taking problem gambling seriously and provide tools for fighting the problem. Most sites solve the problem by referring to a problem gambling organization on their site, and state that they indeed are against problem gambling. How much deeper it sticks, is hard to tell. It is a tough business, with a lot of hard competition, and the bottom line figures controls the business. Apparently it makes many smaller businesses to cut the "unnecessary" expenses, like voluntary donations to problem gambling.

Currently the agreement between the Gambling Commission and the UK online casino and gambling industry is based on a level of voluntary contribution. However, since so many of them have a problem to uphold this voluntary agreement, the government contemplates to make it compulsory. UK online casino sites are far behind in contributed amounts per problem gambler, than New Zealand and Canada. New Zealand can raise £44 and Canada £40 per problem gambler, compared to a poor £14 in England. The British companies still have a long way to go yet to fulfil their end of the bargain.
