In lieu of the upcoming anniversary for 30 years of casino gambling in the state of New Jersey, the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey will be conducting a new study focusing on the effects of casino gambling in Atlantic City. The college will be working in cooperation with the Rutgers Center for research on Urban policy, and the Spectrum Gaming Group for consultancy.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by J. Saatkamp Jr., the Stockton President, the study to be conducted will reveal all the significant changes that have occurred over the past 30 years as result of casino gambling, and further provide opportunities for future operations.
The casino gambling study will cover a wide range of issues, among them the economic impact of legal casino gambling, infrastructure and transportation aspects, tax consequences, social service qualities, societal issues and even predictions about the future landscape of casino gambling. The first batch of results can be expected to surface some time before the end of the year.
The former Governor of New Jersey, Brendan Bryne, was glad to hear about the study, saying that because it was he who authorized casino gambling in Atlantic City, it will be interesting for him to see how the industry has both developed and impacted society.
Stockton has already been involved in a range of casino gambling projects, including taking part in the 1998 Governor's Advisor Commission for Gambling, the establishment of the Institute for Gaming Management, and also the New Jersey Center for research in Tourism and Hospitality.
