The casino development group, AC Gateway, has announced that it wants to construct a new grand casino resort in Atlantic City, for as much as 2 billion dollars. The new resort is planned to attract the huge player group on the East Coast, who formerly had to do with internet casino gambling, if they did not wish to travel too far. The current ban on internet casino gambling makes it even more attractive to construct a new casino resorts, especially in areas were other offers are sparse.
Atlantic City will be the new casino resort town in USA. Many other casino projects are on the drawing table for the city. Revel Entertainment is building a $2 billion casino resort at the opposite end of the Boardwalk of AC Gateway's planned casino. MGM Mirage also has plans for building an even grander casino resort near Borgata, and Pinnacle Entertainment is expected to continue with their plans for a mega-casino in Bader Field. The recession of internet casino gambling sure has led to a blooming business for land based casinos.
Internet casino gambling led a sever blow after the UIGEA, and left a lot of gamblers without any opportunity to exercise their favourite pastime. The many new resorts in Atlantic City are meant to compensate for this gap. The resorts are, however, not only planned for attracting former internet casino players, but target other groups as well. Most of them have also planned convention space, hotel and retail and entertainment space in their resort to draw business conventions as well.
