The Gibraltar-based 888 is concerned with the possibility of American Law agencies acting against it. The casino company's liability to prosecution for taking part in the American online gambling market is not clear. Although the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act made it clear that gambling through the internet is not a service one should be offering, many elements in the industry were not sure about the reality of this fact prior to the bill. 888 is not the only major online casino gambling firm that started talking to the Attorney Office.
U.S. players were immediately blocked from all of 888's online gambling sites right after the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act passed. The group was one of the biggest and most popular suppliers of online gambling attractions to the American public and many players were disappointed to learn of its departure from the U.S. market. Rival group Party Gaming has also conducted meeting with U.S. officials. The online casino group received notice from the Office to hand in information regarding its business in the United States, and Party Gaming felt it would be wise to stating negotiations with the Attorney Office in order to understand the implication of its past doings.
