Did anyone stop to wonder why some types of gambling are considered legal while other kinds do not? Obviously, somebody did stop and though about it; however, more people should do so. While casino games such as Poker, Slots, Roulette, Blackjack, etc. are clearly banned from the virtual realm, as far as the United States administration is concerned, wagering over horseracing and other types of gambling are getting a green light. As people stated before, politics was behind the decision making process which lead to the enactment of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act and the same politics lead to the discrimination and categorization of gambling.
That's a problem that does make people wonder, but it's not the real issue behind the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. The real issue, as -again- people stated before, liberty. However, on this article I want to concentrate on a different implication of the anti online casino legislation in America. Eventually, what the law forbids is the comfort that the people enjoy when using the internet. Gambling is legal in some State in American so saying that the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act is meant to stop people in the United States from gambling, is quite absurd. People in the US, as in most parts of the world, can gamble. They can visit Las Vegas or find other ways of doing so, but they can gamble. With the enactment of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, people simply can't do it comfortably.
Some people might argue that problematic gamblers, for instance, shouldn't be able to have a comfortable access to gambling. I support this notion and ask, why then, isn't online gambling regulated? What does the need to regulate an industry have to do with the industry being completely banned? There are no serious answers for such questions. Hopefully, both citizens and politicians in the United States realize the absurdness of things.
