When thinking about U.S. online gambling regulations (or lack thereof), it must be remembered that while online casino gambling is popular, it is not necessarily acceptable elsewhere around the world in every single country on the face of the Earth. Individual countries have their own sovereignty, their own laws, and their own casino industries in a lot of case. In some countries, it could be that online casino gambling threatens a land-based casino industry just as that country is trying to develop its economy or bring in tourists.

Of course, the online casino industry isn't likely to be aiming for the destruction of the land-based casino industry in any country. Online casino companies simply just want to make money, and of course they make a lot of their money by keeping money that people wager but don't win back. That's the way gambling establishments work though, be they online or offline, real or virtual. Still, in developing countries with both regular casino locations and recent internet connections, it is possible that online casino companies and gambling would be seen as a threat.

Now, the world is a big place, even though communications and transportation options have considerably shrunk our planet in more ways than we probably realize. Just because one country doesn't approve of online casinos doesn't mean that their next-door neighbor takes the same viewpoint. If you're a world traveler who likes to gamble online, there isn't any real shortage of online casino-friendly countries out there.
