The U.S. House Judiciary Committee that gathered last week to discuss the anti online casino acts HR 4777 and HR 4411 has approved both bills. Bob Goodlatte's "Internet Gambling Prohibition Act" and James Leach's "Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006" have been reviewed by the committee and been passed on to the full House of Representatives for further consideration. This is a major step forward in anti online casino legislation, and things are not looking good for the online casino industry.

The U.S. House Judiciary Committee's decision is a very important one. The committee could have changed the anti online casino acts, it could have ruled that they are not ready for a full House of Representatives gathering, or any other decision that could have slowed anti online casino legislation, but it seems that the bills were well written. The divisive issue of horseracing was not addressed by the Goodlate's bill. The bill indicates that the decision regarding remote horseracing betting will be left by the Department of Justice.

Many people in the online casino community believed that the delicate horseracing situation will raise many obstacles for the Goodlate's bill, but now we see that the committee approved the bill and that anti online casino legislation remains a threat to the online casino industry. Elements inside the online casino community are hoping that another breach will be found in Goodlate's bill before the House of Representatives attends to it.
