Online casino gambling and land-based gambling seems to be spreading all over the world. This classic pastime has had a strong re-awakening and is becoming more popular than ever all around the globe. In Asia, the US, Europe, Australia, and many other parts of the world online casinos and land-based casinos are all the rage. Regarding the US border with Mexico, online casino sites are not the issue. The problem facing government officials from both sides here are the land-based casino gambling. The problem? Gambling is illegal in Mexico and various parts of the US.

The problem revolves around approximately 70 casino video slots and US $8,000 in cash seized by law enforcement authorities in the Texas border county of Cameron seized from a Port Isabel business this month. 'It's very important to find out the truth about the property, because we suspect that the majority of these machines are from a select group of people who tend to use others as (front) operators,' District Attorney Villalobos said. The Pennies from Heaven business, supposedly set up as an Avon promotion, was located on property registered to Justice of the Peace Bennie Ochoa, but was operated by Ovidio Guevara. He and Lucila Castillo were brought up on charges of promoting casino gambling, and face up to one year in jail and fines of US $4,000.

Although many argue that tourism would most probably increase thanks to the casino video slots games and casino venues, the fact of the matter is that most of the gamblers playing these 70 machines were locals from the area. In the meantime, the law will continue to make casino gambling illegal in this area. What will happen in the future is still unknown, and whether or not the casino gambling fever will reach a pitch that cannot be ignored is also uncertain.
