As the winds of change affect the online casino business more and more, eCOGRA, the eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance group which is the online casino industry's independent player protection and standards authority, has recently offered to lend its regulatory experience to the UK Department of Culture, Media and Sport. The UK has legalized and regulated online casinos, and feels that it can learn and implement many tricks of the trade within the online gambling business with the help of the organization.

"It is in the best interests of the industry, which provides employment and revenues worldwide, that it is recognized and regulated by national laws and we want to continue to offer our support for what the UK is doing in this area. Our experience is that this is the way to protect the players, enhance their experience and ensure fair play is provided by responsible and regulated operators," said CEO of eCOGRA, Andrew Beveridge. Online casino sites and businesses everywhere will be pleased to hear this news, especially after the way the online casino business is being hit with the repercussions of the passing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act into law by the US.

Now entering its fourth year, the standards authority awards its own 'seal of approval' to over 100 tier one online casino gambling sites which have been submitted to extensive inspections by independent, world renowned business auditors. Once approved, online casino sites must continue to remain true to the organization's eGAP or eCOGRA Generally Accepted Practices. If they do not, they risk losing the seal. Additionally, strong provisions against money laundering are also included, which is an area highlighted as one of concern in some recent media reports.
